Past Events
In the past, we have toured Vizcaya Gardens in Miami, US Sugar in Clewiston, Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve in Fort Myers, and Marie Selby Gardens in Sarasota. Monthly events and tours were not held in Fall 2020 due to Covid-19. However, we held our monthly meetings online with ZOOM. In lieu of a monthly event or tour members were invited to watch a gardening webinar. Here are a few suggestions:
Saturday, October 12, 2019 Visit Pottery Express in Punta Gorda for a tour of their bamboo gardens and showroom. Lunch will be held at Cass Cay Restaurant & Bar, Burnt Store Marina. Car pool will meet at 10 am Saturday morning at the Publix on the corner of Pine Island Road and Burnt Store Road.
November 2019 Club Outing
Monday, November 11, 2019 Visit Koreshan State Historic Site in Estero, FL. The Koreshans were a utopian religious sect who believed the universe existed within a giant hollow sphere. Their rustic homes dating from 1894 are preserved as a South West Florida architectural museum. Lunch will be held at Texas Roadhouse Grill, Estero, FL. Car pool will meet at 9 am Monday morning at the Publix on the corner of Cape Coral Parkway and Santa Barbara Boulevard. Cost is $5.00 per car and $5.00 per person for the tour.
December 2019 Club Outing
Saturday, December 7, 2019 Lunch will be held at The Ice House Pub followed by the annual Punta Gorda Garden Club Holly Days Home Tour. Using only fresh and dried natural materials, the members of the Punta Gorda Garden Club decorate four homes in the Punta Gorda Historic District and the First United Methodist Church. The funds raised are used to provide scholarships to graduating seniors and fund local projects Car pool will meet at 10:45 am Saturday morning at the Publix on the corner of Pine Island Road and Burnt Store Road.
